Using TOR with Google Chrome

I was looking for a solution in Google Chrome browser, similar to The TOR button in Firefox. I had not found an integrated plugin, but still it's possible to install TOR separately and use Proxy Swithcy! extension. Works fine for me.

Why use TOR? There could be many reasons, at least just to create critical mass of TOR users in the World, in such a way people who really need to keep secrets from some repressive regimens could do it without attracting attention. For me, a concept of anonymity is related to concept of liberty. The anonymity constantly leaks from our reality, it is threatened in a number of ways. Soon it could become persecuted. Anonymous browsing is like a use of cash money.

Keep in mind that TOR per se can not provide an anonymous surfing. In case of modern browsers some other problems should be addressed, like cookies or unique User ID. The User ID issue in Google Chrome seems to be wired, it is used in bookmark synchronisation and in other ways. But it is unclear if anyone excepting Google can use it. It may be difficult and contra-productive to remove such personal keys, but it is possible.

If the only goal consists in hiding of some browsing history, there is a perfect solution included in Google Chrome: so called anonymous browsing mode (just CNTL+SHFT+N to get special window). Surely, it has no link with real anonymous browsing.

P.S. Use of TOR as a cryptographic mechanism may be restricted in some countries (like Russia). But, as far as I know, there is no legal restrictions related to use of cryptography in Mexico.
